Barely. It is still online but it lost most of its authority and traffic after Panda. If you have limited time, spend it on a platform where your article will actually be read.

The old article directories are gone. Modern publishing platforms replaced them and work better.

This list has 160 sites that were live on 2026-08-19. The useful ones are publishing platforms with real readers, not directories built to host spun content.

The article directory era is over, and that is fine

GoArticles, ArticlesBase, Buzzle, Helium and Triond are gone. EzineArticles survives but is a shadow of what it was. Panda in 2011 was aimed squarely at this category, and it worked. Any 2027 list still recommending those five as live options was copied without checking.

What survives is more valuable anyway. Medium, LinkedIn Articles, Substack, Dev.to, Hashnode and Vocal are real publishing platforms with real audiences. A post on one of those can send you readers. A post on a 2010 article directory could not, even when they were alive.

How to publish so the link is worth having

Write one article for one platform. Republishing the same text across twenty sites gives you twenty copies competing with your original and nothing else.
Put your link in the body where it is genuinely relevant, not only in the author bio. A contextual link inside useful text is the whole point.
Match the platform's audience. Dev.to and Hashnode want technical writing. Medium and Substack want narrative. LinkedIn wants professional insight. The wrong register gets ignored.
Set the canonical when republishing your own post, so the platform copy points back at yours and does not compete with it.
Aim for 800 words or more with something concrete in it. Thin articles get no readers on these platforms, and a link nobody sees does nothing.

Article submission compared with guest posting

These two get confused constantly. Article submission is self publishing: you open an account and post, with no gatekeeper. Guest posting means an editor at someone else's site accepts your piece and publishes it under their masthead.

Guest posting is harder and worth considerably more, because the editorial filter is exactly what gives the link its value. Article submission is faster and worth less. Both have a place, and the guest posting list on this site covers the second properly.
