A 90-Day Google Ranking Action Plan for Dehradun SMBs
By Pankaj Singh, founder of Doon Digital. Published May 13, 2026.
Most Dehradun business owners want a clear answer to one question: "What do I do in the next 90 days to actually improve my Google rankings?"
I'll give you a clear answer. Below is the exact 90-day action plan I run with new clients. Week by week. With the order that matters. Built from running it for over 200 businesses across Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Roorkee and Haldwani since 2019.
This is not "best practices in general". This is the specific work that produces results for SMBs in Doon Valley.
Before you start: the diagnosis week
Day 1 to 7. Before any optimization, understand the business. Most agencies skip this and start with keyword research. That's backwards.
Answer these honestly:
- What service has the highest margin?
- Which service converts fastest?
- What's your seasonal demand curve?
- Where do current customers come from? Maps? Justdial? Word of mouth? Referrals?
- What's the operational bottleneck right now? Lead volume? Reply speed? Closing rate?
- Who's the customer? Local resident? Tourist? Corporate? Investor?
SEO that doesn't connect to business economics is decorative. Most "invisible" Dehradun businesses I diagnose are not invisible because they lack content. They're invisible because previous agencies optimized for the wrong service. Spend a week being honest about what's actually worth ranking for.
Phase 1: Foundation (Days 1 to 30)
The first month is grunt work. Nothing creative. The mistake most Dehradun businesses make is skipping straight to content. You can't write content for a foundation that doesn't exist yet.
Week 1: Google Business Profile and tracking
- Audit Google Business Profile. Fix primary category. Add all services as separate items with photos and prices. Define service area precisely. Set hours, holiday hours, attributes.
- Upload 20 fresh photos. Real photos of your business, work, team. No stock photos.
- Reply to every existing review, even the old ones. Going forward, reply within 24 hours.
- Install Google Search Console if not already there. Verify the property. Pull last 90 days of query data.
- Install Google Analytics 4. Set up conversion events for: phone clicks, WhatsApp clicks, form submissions, key page visits.
Week 2: NAP consistency and citations
- Pick one exact NAP format. Use it everywhere going forward.
- Fix NAP on your website footer, contact page, and schema markup.
- List on Justdial, IndiaMART, Sulekha, TradeIndia, Grotal Dehradun, Yalwa India, Cybo. Same NAP across all of them.
- If you're tourism or hospitality, add Uttarakhand Tourism and TripAdvisor.
- If you're B2B, prioritize IndiaMART and TradeIndia.
Week 3: Buying-intent landing pages
- Identify your top 3 highest-margin services.
- For each, write one 1,500 to 1,800 word buying-intent landing page.
- Each page should be Dehradun-anchored, with one specific buyer intent.
- Include: pricing range, WhatsApp button above the fold, 3 proof points (client name plus result), FAQ block with 8 to 12 questions, service area block.
- Add schema markup: Service, FAQPage, LocalBusiness.
Week 4: Review system and WhatsApp setup
- Set up a one-click WhatsApp review request that goes out to every customer within 24 hours of service.
- Create a tracking sheet for fresh review count. Goal: 4 to 8 new reviews per month.
- Set up WhatsApp Business with auto-reply (pricing PDF or menu) and a real-human SLA of 5 minutes during business hours.
- Add Click-to-WhatsApp buttons across the site, sticky on scroll.
By end of day 30, you should have: optimized GBP, NAP consistent across 7+ citation sites, 3 landing pages live, review collection system running, WhatsApp lead capture working. This is your foundation. Most Dehradun agencies sell this as a 6-month project. It's 4 weeks of focused work.
Phase 2: Visibility engine (Days 31 to 60)
Month two is when search visibility starts moving. You'll see early signals in Search Console.
Week 5: Two more landing pages plus blog pillar
- Build 2 more buying-intent landing pages for the next-most-important services or for your top Dehradun localities.
- Start one pillar guide (3,000 to 4,000 words) on the topic your business owns. This is a 4 to 6 week project, not a one-week sprint.
Week 6: Search Console optimization
- Open Search Console weekly. Look at queries ranking position 8 to 15. These are queries Google considers you almost-eligible for.
- For each such query, find the page Google is ranking. Optimize the title tag, H1, and first paragraph to better match that exact query intent.
- This single tactic, title-tag optimization based on Search Console data, often outperforms a month of new content work.
Week 7: Internal linking and topical clusters
- Audit internal links across all your pages. Every important page should have at least 3 to 5 internal links pointing to it from other pages.
- Use descriptive anchor text. "Local SEO services in Dehradun" beats "click here".
- Build topical clusters: a pillar page linked from supporting landing pages and blog content, all referencing each other.
- For a model of how this looks, see how this post links to How to Rank #1 for "Near Me" Searches in Dehradun and Local SEO Implementation Checklist for Solo Dehradun Practitioners.
Week 8: First Google Ads test
- Pick your highest-intent buying keyword cluster.
- Set up a ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 monthly Google Ads test with proper conversion tracking.
- The goal isn't ads revenue alone. It's getting real conversion data on which keywords actually convert for your business, much faster than waiting 6 months for SEO.
- Feed those insights back into your SEO keyword strategy.
By end of day 60, expect: Search Console showing 3 to 5 queries moving into top 10, GBP map-pack movement for at least one keyword, first WhatsApp leads from organic traffic, ad campaign producing data on actual conversion keywords.
Phase 3: Scale what works (Days 61 to 90)
Month three is when you cut weak channels and double down on what's actually producing leads.
Week 9: Audit the data
- Look at Search Console: which pages are getting impressions? Which are getting clicks? Where is the gap?
- Look at GA4: which traffic sources are converting? Which are vanity?
- Look at Google Ads: which keywords have positive ROAS? Which are burning budget?
- Look at WhatsApp inquiry log: where did each lead come from?
This is the moment most agencies fail. They keep doing what they planned in week 1 regardless of what the data shows. Cut what isn't working. Don't be sentimental about content you spent time on.
Week 10: Review velocity push
- If review velocity is below 4 to 8 per month, fix the operational bottleneck.
- Usually it's: nobody is consistently sending the review request, or the request is being sent at the wrong moment (too soon, too aggressive, too generic).
- A clinic client of mine tripled review velocity by switching from "request after 3 days" to "request within 30 minutes of leaving the chamber". Timing matters more than messaging.
Week 11: Page optimization round 2
- Take your two top-performing landing pages from Phase 2 data.
- Rewrite headlines based on the actual search queries Google Search Console shows.
- A/B test CTA buttons. WhatsApp button colour, position, copy.
- Add a fresh proof point (recent client result) to each top page.
Week 12: Plan the next 90 days
- Based on Phase 1 to 3 data, identify the next 3 to 5 priority moves for Quarter 2.
- This is where strategy adjusts to reality. Common Q2 priorities:
- 2 more landing pages for newly-identified high-converting buyer intents.
- One pillar guide finished and published.
- Local PR push (3 to 5 local news mentions or guest posts).
- Conversion rate optimization on the top 3 pages.
- Scaling the Google Ads spend on the keywords that are clearly converting.
By end of day 90, expect: 5 to 8 high-intent landing pages live, GBP map-pack ranking for at least one important query, organic traffic 30% to 60% above the start, WhatsApp leads as a steady channel, ad campaign producing positive ROAS on at least one cluster, review velocity above 4 per month.
Realistic expectations by industry
I've seen this 90-day plan run in dozens of Dehradun engagements. Results vary by industry, but the pattern holds.
| Your industry | What to expect at day 90 |
| Clinics and healthcare | Map pack visibility for 1 to 3 key queries, 5 to 15 new WhatsApp leads per week |
| Coaching institutes | Visibility for course-specific queries, 8 to 20 admission inquiries per month |
| Hotels and hospitality | Map pack for 2 to 4 queries, 10 to 30 direct booking inquiries per month |
| Retail and local shops | 30% to 60% increase in foot traffic from Maps |
| Real estate | First page rankings for 1 to 2 high-intent queries, slower deal pipeline |
| B2B services | 2 to 5 high-quality enquiries per month, longer close cycle |
The honest variation: some industries produce results faster than the table suggests if your operational basics are strong, and slower if they're weak. Service quality, response speed, and pricing alignment all matter as much as the SEO work itself.
What kills 90-day SEO programs
I've seen the same three failure modes across dozens of engagements that didn't produce results.
Skipping the foundation. Business owner gets bored of the grunt work in weeks 1 to 4 and wants to "do something more strategic". You can't. The foundation is what makes the strategic work matter later.
No operational ownership of reviews and WhatsApp. SEO programs without internal staff ownership of reviews and WhatsApp follow-up die slowly. The agency can build the system. Someone inside the business has to run it.
Cutting the spend before results land. Many Dehradun businesses pull the plug at day 60 because "I haven't seen results yet". Results land in days 75 to 120 for most industries, not day 60. Patience separates SEO programs that succeed from those that don't.
If you stay disciplined through the full 90 days, you should be in a clearly better position than where you started, with the systems in place to keep compounding through Quarter 2 and beyond.
